Clinicians

Mary Brannan Gubitz, MA, LMFT

Mary Brannan Gubitz is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She received her Masters degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University. She is a certified facilitator for the SYMBIS Assessment and has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy in her work. She also pulls skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Mary Brannan has a passion for helping others see that there is hope no matter the situation. Looking at our struggles through a systematic lens allows for a fuller and deeper healing for every individual. Mary Brannan believes that with a healthy marriage comes a healthy family and a healthy community. She enjoys assisting couples and families become a strong unit together. Her areas of focus are premarital, marital, individuals, families, and adolescents (middle to high school) working through anxiety, depression, ADHD, marital conflict, family issues, communication, postpartum, trauma, life transitions, and grief.
Mary Brannan lives in Raleigh with her husband, Tim and three kids, ages 8 and 6 year old twins! She enjoys reading a variety of books and loves to swim.

Desiree Burns, MSW, LCSWA

Desiree is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). She earned her master’s degree in social work from Walden University and her bachelor’s in social work from Stockton University. She has completed the externship for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and holds a Level One certification in Rational Living Therapy. 

Desiree is committed to walking alongside teens, adults, couples, and families through life’s challenges, using evidence-based interventions within a biblical framework. She is devoted to helping people not only feel better, but truly get better- whether they are navigating relational distress, working through trauma, coping with grief and loss, or adjusting to significant life changes. Meeting people where they are with empathy, non-judgement, and a holistic, systems-oriented perspective, Desiree collaborates with each person, couple, or family to  develop a plan that supports meaningful movement toward their goals. Her areas of focus also  include anxiety, depression, identity and self-esteem concerns, spiritual formation, communication, family conflict, and dementia care. Her heart is to compassionately help those she works with move through the discomfort that often accompanies growth so they can live the life God intends for them. 

Desiree lives in Wake Forest with her husband, Steve, and their playful border collie, Buckie. They are newly empty nesters, as their two adult daughters both attend NC State University. In her free time, Desiree enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, dancing, and spending time with her husband and family, especially in the beautiful NC mountains.

Lea Mucciacciaro, MSW, LCSWA

Lea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). She received her Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also completed her bachelors at UNC Chapel Hill with a dual degree in Human Development Family Studies and Religious Studies. Lea is trained in Substance Use Addiction Specialization with a focus on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Lea is passionate about counseling children and supporting families as they work through struggles and circumstances such as divorce, adoption, and/or grief. Her desire is to be an advocate for family unity and an encourager for hope.

Lea believes in the importance of mental health awareness and creating positive relationships within families even through the toughest of times. She also specializes in artistic approaches to therapy for children, teens, as well as adults.

Erin Camp, Intern 

Erin is a master’s degree student at Liberty University in their Clinical Mental Health Therapy program and an intern at Foundation Restoration with an ultimate goal of becoming a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). Erin graduated from West Virginia University with her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2007. After 15 years as a stay-at-home mom, she felt God calling her to pursue a career in counseling.

Erin believes in fostering a person-centered approach to counseling since we as humans were created to be in relationship with much healing coming through relationships, including the counseling relationship. She seeks to get to know her clients well and to genuinely equip her clients to heal and grow in the counseling setting and beyond.

As an adoptive mom herself, Erin has a particular passion for working with parents of foster and adoptive children with high needs. She hopes to begin facilitating groups to bring others together experiencing similar challenges or journeys. She also has an interest in incorporating somatic work to release and heal the trauma and pain that are often stored in the body. Erin also utilizes skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She is a certified facilitator for the SYMBIS Assessment, a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Counseling Association.

Erin lives in Apex with her husband Greg and 3 of her 4 children (18, 16, 13, and 9), three cats, and two dogs. In her spare time (ha!) Erin loves volunteering with worship at her church, practicing hospitality, crafting, reading, watching a good movie, and playing with her plants.

Sydney Outlaw, MA, LMFT

Sydney Outlaw, MA, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from UNC-Greensboro and a Master’s degree in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Sydney primarily integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Attachment Theory in her work with clients. She is trained in trauma-informed care and is a certified facilitator of the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) Assessment, which supports couples in building a Christ-centered foundation for marriage.

Sydney feels deeply called by the Lord to the work of therapy and considers it a privilege to walk alongside others in their healing journey. She is passionate about creating a therapeutic space that is empathetic, non-judgmental, and rooted in grace and truth. Sydney believes that the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. She seeks to foster a strong connection with her clients, trusting that through that relationship healing, hope, and restoration can occur. 

Sydney enjoys working with adolescents (ages 13+), adults (men and women), and couples. She has particular interest and experience in supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, the challenges of motherhood and the postpartum transition, marital and relational issues, premarital counseling, and grief. When appropriate and desired by the client, Sydney is glad to integrate Christian faith into the counseling process as a source of strength, identity, and healing.

Sydney lives in Butner, NC with her husband, Hunter, and their two young children. In her free time, she enjoys serving at her local church and spending quality time with family and friends

Ashley McIlwain, MA, LMFT

Ashley McIlwain, MA, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist  who received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University.

Ashley is the Founder and CEO of Foundation Restoration, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which offers a wide range of resources committed to helping relationships thrive. Believing that marriage is the foundation of society, she passionately utilizes her non-profit, therapy, speaking engagements, and writing to prepare, nurture, salvage, and encourage healthy, strong marriages from a biblical perspective. Her past experience includes partnering with Moody Publishers and Dr. Gary Chapman as Managing Editor to launch and develop a website focused on premarital preparation.

Her areas of focus include premarital, marital, and individual therapy working through life transitions, relational issues, personal growth, boundaries, restoration, depression, and anxiety. She is certified as a Prepare & Enrich Facilitator, SYMBIS Facilitator, and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors as well as the AACC Marriage & Family Division. She has completed Level 1 Gottman Training.

Ashley loves connecting with, helping, and encouraging people professionally and personally. Her heart is to support those hurting and help them to feel understood, cared for, and hopeful on their path to healing.

In her spare time, she loves being with family and friends, enjoying every second with her son; playing, watching, and coaching sports; going to concerts; meeting new people; laughing; being outside; and trying to make the world a brighter place. Her, her husband Steve, and son live in Raleigh.

Location & Contact Information

  • Our office can be located off of Falls of Neuse Rd. or Mutual Court (off of Strickland Rd.). We are suite #107, which faces Strickland Rd. You can park in any of the available spaces. Upon entering our office, clients may be seated in the waiting area, and your clinician will greet you there at your scheduled appointment.
  • Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early.
  • There is coffee or tea available in our waiting area (on the back side of the half wall) that clients can help themselves to while waiting.
  • We also have various merchandise available; if you would like to make a purchase, please notify your clinician who can assist you.

Other Information

New Clients: Make sure you have completed ALL required intake paperwork through the client portal 48 hours PRIOR to your initial session. Clients who do not complete their intake paperwork prior to the session will need to complete it during their session or may be asked to reschedule.

Payment: Payment is due at the time of services – no exceptions. We accept cash (please bring exact amount as change is not available), checks, or debit/credit cards. Please note that a current credit/debit card is required to be on file at all times in your client portal. Most FSA or HSA cards are accepted. We offer reduced rates from industry standard. We are an in-network provider with and accept Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina insurance (not Blue Local or Blue Value) as well as Aetna.

Insurance Disclaimer: While we try to be as accurate as possible when verifying benefits, your fees may change depending on your eligibility and benefits during the date of your sessions. Estimates are as of that day, and we won’t know your exact fee until we bill your insurance and get your explanation of benefits back from your insurance company. You are also encouraged to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask your member representative about your ‘mental health, outpatient, office visit’ benefits. We will provide bill summaries for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for an out of network provider.
