Being A Better Boyfriend … To My Wife! by Bubba Cathy
Foreword by Ashley McIlwain:
Let me start by saying that, I absolutely love Chick-fil-A! It was one of my late grandfather’s favorite culinary treats, and let’s just say that I have proudly carried on his tradition of eating there as often as possible. Their food is incredible, service is phenomenal, and their business model is exceedingly successful. Chick-fil-A not only strives to provide great food and an amazing guest experience but also have a positive impact on each Restaurant’s local community. A huge part of that success is attributable to the founder, S. Truett Cathy, and his family’s dedication to the Chick-fil-A’s purpose: To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.
The Cathy family is truly an extraordinary example of what it means to be a Christ follower. There are few people or businesses that are as giving, compassionate, caring, and helpful to so many lives as this family is. That includes Bubba Cathy, Senior Vice President of Chick-fil-A, Inc. and President of Dwarf House, Inc. He was kind enough to allow us to share a post he wrote for the Cathy Family website that I thoroughly enjoyed and knew you would to.
Being A Better Boyfriend … To My Wife!
It is true that outside of our relationship with Christ, there is no relationship more important than the ones you share with family. And I have learned that the secret to having a strong family is a healthy marriage.
For 34 years, I have enjoyed the benefits of a healthy marriage with my wife, Cindy, but we continue to have to work hard and seek God’s leadership so that in all we do, we honor Him and continue to provide our family with a Godly example.
One way we do that is we still go on dates as often as we can. It’s important in marriage to continue to court one another and do special things for each other… sometimes “just because.” That’s why Cindy and I still go out to dinner; we watch movies; hold hands and take walks around the lake; or just take a short ride around the neighborhood on our motorcycles.
Dating your spouse doesn’t have to be outrageous or expensive or so creative that it becomes a point of stress. The important thing is to simply take a break from the things that take you away from the second most important relationship you will ever have in life.
There are some great “dating” resources at www.loveishere.com. Take a few minutes and visit the site. You’ll be inspired and encouraged as you read the stories and learn new ideas about how you can be a better boyfriend or girlfriend to your spouse!
Bubba Cathy currently serves as Senior Vice President of Chick-fil-A, Inc. and President of Dwarf House, Inc. He is also involved with several foundations including: WinShape Homes, which are long-term foster homes; a team-building program called WinShape Wilderness; and WinShape Retreat, a marriage enrichment center on the campus of Berry College in Northwest Georgia. Bubba and his wife, Cindy, of 34 years have six children and two grandchildren. He is also a Sunday school teacher and enjoys riding motorcycles and sailing with his wife in his spare time.

Whew, now that I said all of that, on to the article~ thank you for posting this because I always think doing something special for my hubby has to be a huge, planned out ordeal and so sadly they rarely happen. But if I take a note from this article and just do the simple little things that I did for him when we were dating those count too 🙂 Thank you!

Though still a single guy, this still hits home for me. In being the husband that I desire to be one day, I will have to continuously date my wife, show her love in the small things, and be the leader that God has called me to be. What a great reminder. Thanks for this!
